About Air Astana
Air Astana airline was registered in 2001, and on May 15, 2002, it performed its first flight from Almaty to Astana.
Air Astana is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to perform aircraft maintenance in accordance with Directive 145 requirements.
In May 2015, the airline successfully passed its fifth audit for operational safety by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). In October 2015, "Air Astana" passed the certification audit by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for airlines from non-European Union countries (Third Country Operators (TCO) certification audit) without any remarks. "Air Astana" is also certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to provide training for engineering and technical personnel in accordance with the requirements of EASA Part 147.
As of today, the fleet of Air Astana consists of Western-made aircraft with an average age of 8.35 years. The route network includes over 60 domestic and international flights. The company employs a highly qualified staff, providing over 4,700 jobs, which includes both experienced local (predominantly) and foreign employees. Peter Foster, a leader in the aviation business with over 30 years of experience, has been heading Air Astana since the autumn of 2005.
Air Astana placed an order to acquire Boeing 787, Airbus A320NEO, and Embraer 190 aircraft for its fleet. This acquisition will eventually increase the number of aircraft to 43 units by 2020.
