UNESCO documents describe Tash Rabat as a caravanserai associated with the Tien Shan corridor of the Silk Road and the building tradition of the Karakhanid era.
The building is constructed of stone slabs and comprises approximately three dozen rooms with different types of ceilings. Restoration work was carried out during the Soviet period. Tash-Rabat, along with other monuments of the Inner Tien Shan, has been included by Kyrgyzstan on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, but this does not mean it has already been inscribed.
