The airline "Ukraine International Airlines" was founded in 1992 as the national (flag) carrier. The founders of UIA were the Association of Civil Aviation of Ukraine and the largest Irish leasing company GPA (later AerCap B.V.). During its 15 years of existence, MAU managed to attract new strategic and financial investors. In 1996, Austrian Airlines and Swissair became shareholders of MAU, and in 2000, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) joined as an investor. By the end of 2009, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) became one of the key players in the aviation industry of Ukraine, holding a 20% market share. Further development required a radical change in direction, which coincided with the change in the airline's ownership structure in 2010. A key factor was the exit of foreign investors from UIA's capital, which was associated with changes in their strategy for presence in Ukraine, as well as the expiration of the standard term of investment presence in the capital of the EBRD. At the same time, in order to ensure accessibility of airline services for passengers, the management of MAU has made a decision to systematically lower fares by excluding the cost of additional services from the ticket price. This step allowed MAU to offer customers low fares and become the world's first network low-cost carrier. MAU TODAY UIA is an industry-leading company in Ukraine, utilizing the operational model of a low-cost network airline and specializing in passenger and cargo transportation. UIA connects Ukraine with 38 countries located in Europe, Asia, America, Africa, and the Middle East. It operates 1,100 international and domestic flights weekly and provides connections with partner airlines' routes to over 3,000 cities worldwide. The main airport is Kyiv Boryspil International Airport (KBP). The fleet of "International Airlines of Ukraine" consists of 42 airliners. MAU has its own handling network. This allows us to control the quality of service, sell service services to other airlines, and create additional jobs in Ukraine. By 2021, the airline plans to increase and update its fleet, open new routes in the eastern and southeastern directions of its route network, increase flight frequency on already established routes, and actively develop regional hubs in cities across Ukraine. An electronic airline ticket is essentially a regular plane ticket, but presented in a form less familiar to travelers. All flight information (passenger data, route) is stored in an electronic database, and the passenger receives an itinerary receipt. Some passengers who purchase their plane ticket online and receive an itinerary receipt may be surprised by its appearance - it is a regular A4 sheet that has been printed with all the details of the upcoming flight. When registering for a flight, the passenger must present the itinerary receipt along with his or her ID just as they would present a regular paper ticket. It's worth noting that an electronic ticket purchased online costs less than its paper equivalent.
